“Utopia” The $250 million dollar
James bond style home

words by briana james

Chris Clayton, or as he is sometimes known in design circles Chris Asetti, has been designing spectacular homes for over a decade now. A rich variety of both highly individual contemporary designs to stunning tropical villas. Celebrity style pads to a Billionaires super home. If you are looking for the best in unique and stunning homes, then Asetti are known as the designers to talk to.

Yet nothing prepared the industry for their latest creation, “Utopia”. In one leap of the imagination, Asetti created the Super Home. A personal dream, carefully sculptured over a year of painstaking research. Created to pay homage to the imagination of the James Bond movie makers, who excited us with dazzling scenes, exotic locations and elaborate villain hideouts. Now fondly referred to as ‘The James Bond house’, it rocketed home design to a whole new level. It also pushed Asetti into the limelight, as one of the most sort after international home designers. Leading them to design a variety of unique properties for clients who want something truely special.

We have luxury car brands and stunning super yachts. We’ve got Ferrari, Bentley, Aston Martin, Sunseeker yachts and a plethora of great luxury fashion designers. Yet there was always something missing. A luxury design brand specialising in the ultimate in movie style home design. Asetti filled that space perfectly.

“As a child I often drifted off during James Bond movies, imagining living in one of those crazy villain’s homes. I loved the whole romance and style of James Bond. Especially the 1960’s to 70’s period. The villains homes were always so incredibly cool. The whole James Bond experience, seamlessly flowing with glamour and gadgetry. The 1960’s to me, was a particularly exciting period in fashion, music, cinema, art and design. There was an abundance of fresh, hip ideas. So there’s a whirlpool of inspiration to dip into. The Bond style is so British in many ways, but also international too. The diamonds, the cars, casino’s, beautiful women, the awesome settings. It’s a boy hood dream on the big screen. So for Utopia it was like delving into a bag of memories. “ Remarked Chris.

Utopia is the perfect villain’s hideaway in a James Bond movie. If you’ve got the $250 million laying around, then you can start building. It’s the kind of home every billionaire should have. You’ve got the yacht in Monaco and the Bentley on the quay side, so it is only fitting, you have the Asetti super home to complete the whole experience.

Utopia covers a whopping 15,000 square metres. Complete with helipad, tropical lagoon swimming pools, waterfalls, spa, climate control glass pyramid with tropical interior gardens, massive entertainment dome with sunken living areas, sky bars, glass elevators and automated smart home systems. Remarkably the home is also powered by renewable energy sources which include solar and wind power.

Asetti-Dolcevita-content_2-2.pngTropical waterfalls cascade into a lake with its own island sanctuary and glass elevators rise above the tropical interior garden, housed in a vast glass pyramid. There is even a private DJ booth, wall aquariums and full movie theatre with 3D option. Every guest bedroom is a presidential suite, with living area, spa baths, rain shows and full suite automation.Utopia offers the ultimate living experience. If you need a destination to take guests by your private helicopter or super yacht, then this is the place. Super homes are not meant to be mundane. They are meant to excite and take design to heights far beyond the ordinary.

The luxury brand of Asetti is certainly making its mark. Since Utopia’s completion, their popularity and demand to design people’s homes, has grown rapidly. “ We kind of created our own niche by designing what we love. We don’t follow the trends or follow any particular formula. I work free form and just let the imagination flow. That way you are not encumbered with unnecessary restrictions that can hinder the end result. James Bond and other movies definitely play a part on an inspirational level. Some clients favour European style and others want a home something like Tony Stark in Iron Man. It’s the same process. My clients want the best, so it’s our duty give it to them. No half measures. If it means researching mystical symbols, movies, ancient buildings, then that’s all part of it.” Chris added.

Asetti stand out as they take the same “wow” factor of a home you may see in a movie and apply it. Clients become friends and Chris likes to spend time getting to know them. He believes the home is our sanctuary from the outside world.

“ The clients are the most important part. Many lead fascinating lives. Some have families. Some require confidentiality. Others are party people and some are pensive. If you spend some time with the client, then some of the character of the owner will slip into the home. I like to spend time with them. Find out what’s beneath and what makes them tick. That way it’s a warm relationship built on trust and their home will ultimately be far better. They are going to spend a lot of time in that house, so I need to know them.”

Not all their designs are as avant-garde as Utopia, or as expansive. Asetti have designed varying styles and sizes. They recently released their Gold collection with fitting names such as Atlantis, Utopia, Harmony, Eden and Scheherazade. Each moulded with care and passion over many months of design development. If you want the best in luxury design or fancy living the James Bond lifestyle, then best put in that request. Asetti will not disappoint you.
